Koh Lanta Museum Old Town
South Lanta
About
A small community museum housed in a lovely old building, documenting the lives of the three communities who shaped the island: Chao Le (sea gypsies), Thai Buddhists, and the Chinese and Muslim fishing communities. Artefacts include a traditional fishing boat, a piece of whale bone, shells, corals, old furniture, photographs, Islamic handbooks, typewriters, and vintage movie posters. Donations welcome. Most labels are in Thai with limited English, but the atmosphere of the building alone makes it worth stepping inside.
