June 2026 Festivals and Events Across Thailand

June 2026 is a busy month for festivals, sports events, and cultural celebrations across Thailand. Whether you're based on Koh Lanta and planning a trip to the mainland, or timing a visit to Thailand around something special, there's a solid spread of events from Bangkok to Phuket to the northeast. This guide runs through what's happening, where, and when, so you can plan ahead.

Hot Air Balloons in Nan (30 May – 3 June)

Kicking off the month is the "Kin Lom Chom Balloon @ Yot Khao Dan Phana" event at Dan Phana Sheep Farm in Pua District, Nan Province. It runs from 30 May through 3 June 2026 and features hot air balloons, photo spots, family activities, and mountain scenery. A good option if you're travelling with kids or keen on photography.

Rocket Festivals in the Northeast (3–7 June and 6–7 June)

Two traditional Bun Bang Fai rocket festivals run in the first week of June, both rooted in Isan (northeastern Thai) culture.

  • Lai Si Phum Rocket Festival (3–7 June) takes place on Prasan Mueang Road in Suwannaphum District, Roi Et Province, with decorated rockets, parades, cultural performances, and Isan heritage activities.
  • Kham Muang Rocket Festival (6–7 June) is held in Kham Muang District, Kalasin Province, and adds mor lam shows and folk performances to the mix.

Both festivals offer a genuine look at northeastern Thai traditions that don't often make it onto the standard tourist trail.

Trail Running in Southern Thailand (6–7 June)

The Amazing Thailand GI Tour & Trail Running event comes to Ban Wang Hon in Cha-uat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province on 6–7 June. Alongside the running, there's a focus on GI (Geographical Indication) local products and community tourism. A second edition of the same series runs 20–21 June in Ban Thung Kham, Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province, with trail running, local products, and cultural experiences in the Phetchaburi landscape.

Arts and Culture in Bangkok (6–7 June)

Kluea Samut: Live Arts and Performance runs 6–7 June at the Jim Thompson Art Centre in Bangkok. The event explores the cultural ecology of salt farming through installation art, live performances, and "living sculpture" creations that blend visual and performing arts.

Riverside Temple Boat Trip, Nonthaburi (7 and 14 June)

On two separate Sundays, the "Boat Trip: Temple & Shrine Worship" event departs from Nonthaburi Pier Riverside. It's a river boat journey taking in temples and Chinese shrines, with a local waterfront community feel. A low-key, culturally rich day trip from Bangkok worth considering if you're in the city on either of those dates.

Laguna Phuket Marathon (13–14 June)

The Laguna Phuket Marathon marks its 20th anniversary on 13–14 June at Laguna Phuket in Thalang District. Runners from more than 70 countries participate, with race categories ranging from a full marathon down to family and junior runs. If you're planning to run or spectate, book accommodation well in advance as this event draws a large international crowd.

Phi Ta Khon (Ghost Mask) Festival, Loei (20–22 June)

The Bun Luang & Phi Ta Khon Festival is one of the most recognisable cultural events on Thailand's calendar. Held 20–22 June at Dan Sai District Office and Wat Phon Chai in Dan Sai District, Loei Province, it features the famous ghost mask parade, traditional rituals, merit-making ceremonies, and community celebrations. The festival draws on the legend of Prince Vessantara and local spiritual beliefs. If you've ever wanted to see it, mark those dates now and sort travel early.

Pickleball in Phuket (19–21 June)

Phuket hosts its first major pickleball tournament, the Amazing Phuket Pickleball Cup, from 19–21 June at Raccoon Pickleball Court in Thalang District. The prize pool is over 150,000 Thai Baht, signalling that sports tourism in Phuket is growing well beyond the usual offerings.

Nong Chuang Craft Scene, Prachin Buri (19–21 June)

Nong Chuang Craft Scene runs 19–21 June at Ban Nong Chuang in Mueang District, Prachin Buri Province. Expect artisan markets, live music, traditional and fusion food, and outdoor eco-film screenings. A relaxed weekend event for those who enjoy community-scale creative gatherings.

Kamphaeng Phet Marathon (21 June)

The Amazing Kamphaeng Phet Marathon takes place on 21 June, based at Mueang Kamphaeng Phet District Office in Kamphaeng Phet Province.

Volcano Durian Festival, Si Sa Ket (25–29 June)

The Sisaket Volcano Durian Festival runs 25–29 June at the Provincial Hall Ground in Si Sa Ket Province. The star of the show is the GI-certified "volcano durian," grown in volcanic soil and unique to the region. Alongside durian, there are tropical fruits, OTOP local products, food markets, and live entertainment. Worth a detour for anyone serious about Thai food and agricultural produce.

Bangkok Bicycle Film Festival (27–28 June)

Closing out the month, the Bangkok Bicycle Film Festival runs 27–28 June at ChangChui Creative Park in Bangkok. This international bicycle-themed film and lifestyle event includes movie screenings, cycling activities, indie culture, and creative community gatherings.
