LOT Polish Airlines Launches Direct Warsaw–Bangkok Flights from October 2026
Starting 7 October 2026, LOT Polish Airlines will operate direct flights between Warsaw and Bangkok, removing the need for Polish travellers to connect through other European or Middle Eastern hubs. The route launches with three flights per week, increasing to five per week from 26 October 2026 for the winter 2026/2027 season. Flying on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 252 seats, the journey takes around 10 hours 20 minutes. For anyone travelling from Poland to Thailand, including onward to destinations like Krabi or Koh Samui, this is a meaningful change in how accessible the country becomes.
The Route and Schedule
LOT Polish Airlines will fly Warsaw to Bangkok three times a week from the inaugural date of 7 October 2026. From 26 October, that increases to five weekly departures, which gives travellers considerably more flexibility when planning trips during the peak winter travel season. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a wide-body aircraft known for passenger comfort on long-haul routes, which matters on a 10-plus hour flight.
Growing Polish Tourism to Thailand
Poland is already a strong and growing market for Thailand. In 2025, 237,570 Polish visitors travelled to Thailand, up 31.46% compared to 2024. Momentum has continued into 2026, with 137,772 Polish arrivals recorded between 1 January and 18 May 2026, a 17.08% increase over the same period in 2025.
TAT Europe Region Executive Director Ms. Suladda Sarutilavan described Poland as one of Thailand's "rising European markets" and said the new service creates a "direct gateway from Central Europe to Thailand."
What Polish Visitors Spend and Where They Go
Polish travellers tend to stay longer than many other nationalities, averaging around 14 days per trip and spending approximately 68,800 Baht per person. Bangkok is the most common entry point, with Krabi, Ko Samui, and Chiang Mai among the most popular onward destinations. That travel pattern fits well with the kind of multi-stop itinerary many visitors to Koh Lanta already follow.
Projected Tourism Revenue
With the direct route in place, TAT projects around 47,000 Polish visitors during winter 2026/2027, generating approximately 3.196 billion Baht in tourism revenue. For winter 2027/2028, projections rise to around 49,000 visitors and 3.3 billion Baht.
The TAT and LOT Tabletop Sale
On 25 May 2026, TAT hosted a tabletop sale and familiarisation trip in Bangkok, bringing together two LOT Polish Airlines executives and representatives from eight Polish travel companies: Almatur, Best Reisen, eSKY, eTravel, Flugo, Hurra, Profitravel, and Weco-travel. The four-day programme included visits to Bangkok landmarks such as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Yaowarat (Chinatown), and ICONSIAM, as well as hotel inspections and experiences like a Thai spa visit, flower garland workshop, canal tour, and a tuk tuk night tour. The event was designed, in TAT's words, to "translate strong interest into tangible travel demand."
What This Means for Koh Lanta Visitors
For travellers coming from Poland, a direct flight to Bangkok makes the whole trip simpler to plan. Bangkok connects easily to Krabi via short domestic flights or a bus-ferry combination, putting Koh Lanta well within reach of a two-week itinerary. With strong advance bookings already reported for the inaugural flight, the route looks set to become a regular option for Polish holidaymakers heading to southern Thailand.
