Bangkok Nightclub Fire: Compensation Figures Released
Authorities have released initial compensation figures for those affected by the fire at Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao in Bangkok. Injured victims who required hospital treatment can receive up to 4,000 baht, while uninjured survivors may receive up to 2,000 baht plus an additional 2,300 baht payment. Bereaved families are entitled to a base payment of 29,700 baht, rising to a maximum of 300,000 baht if criminal offences are confirmed against those responsible. The support also extends to nearby residents, vendors, and businesses affected by the incident. A police investigation is ongoing and compensation for the venue owner has not yet been decided. Police have confirmed that most victims died from toxic gases rather than the flames themselves.
Six Juveniles Escape Detention, All Recaptured
Six boys escaped a detention centre in Nakhon Ratchasima at around 05:30, slipping through a gate opened by a teacher. About 90 minutes later they stole an Isuzu pickup from a school car park roughly 800 metres away and headed toward Chaiyaphum. All six were recaptured in Noen Sa-nga district and the vehicle was found abandoned. Investigators were told that one boy missed his family and persuaded the others to go with him.
