Heavy rain is forecast across 19 Thai provinces on 23 October 2026, with the East and South hit hardest. The Thai Meteorological Department expects scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy rain on the Andaman coast, which includes the Krabi and Koh Lanta area. Highs there sit at 32-36°C, northwesterly winds run 15-30 km/h, and waves can top 2 m inside storm cells. Flash floods and landslides are possible in some areas, and boat trips may be affected.
What's behind the weather
A monsoon trough lies across the Gulf of Thailand and the middle of the South. High pressure sits over the upper North, the upper Northeast, and the South China Sea. Southeasterly winds are pushing moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf into the lower Northeast, lower Central region, Bangkok, and the East.
The number of provinces getting heavy rain has been climbing: 15 on 21 October, 16 on 22 October, and 19 on 23 October.

What it means for your plans
- Expect daily afternoon-style downpours with gusts in Bangkok, the East, and the South. Carry rain gear and allow extra travel time.
- On the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga, Trang), heavy rain is possible. Boat trips and island hops may be disrupted by 2 m+ waves in storm cells, so check with your operator before you go.
- Avoid foothills, streams, and low-lying areas because of flash flood and landslide risk.
- Temperatures stay hot (32-37°C), so it will feel humid.
