Heavy rain is forecast in 11 provinces on 24 October 2026, mostly in the South, according to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD). That is down from 16 provinces on 22 October and 19 on 23 October. A monsoon trough over the middle South is driving continuous rain and isolated heavy falls. Koh Lanta sits in Krabi, so it is in the wettest zone of the country today, and sea conditions may disrupt boat trips.

The big picture

A high-pressure system over the upper North, upper Northeast and South China Sea is weakening, and easterly winds still prevail over the upper country. Meanwhile, a monsoon trough over the middle South is behind the continuous rain and isolated heavy falls.

The TMD warns of flash floods, overflows and landslides in low-lying areas, near waterways and near foothills.

What it means for Koh Lanta

The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun) is the wettest part of the country today. Expect fairly widespread thundershowers and possible heavy downpours. Lows are 24-26°C and highs 32-35°C, with northwesterly winds of 15-30 km/h.

Practical points for the day:

  • Boats and ferries: Waves exceed 2 m in thundershowers, and the TMD says all ships should avoid thundershowers. Trips may be disrupted or unsafe.
  • Roads and waterways: Take care near waterways, foothills and low-lying roads because of the flash flood and landslide risk.

Offshore conditions

Andaman Sea and Gulf waves exceed 2 m in thundershowers. Wave heights by area:

  • East coast of the Gulf and South east coast: about 1 m, above 2 m in thundershowers.
  • South west coast: about 1 m, above 2 m in thundershowers.
  • East (Chon Buri to Trat): below 1 m, above 2 m in thundershowers.
